Xbox’s Project Scorpio Hardware Revealed

Microsoft has released the full details for their mid-generation console update known as Project Scorpio. Digital Foundry was given the first look at the console.

The layman’s explanation is that Scorpio is more powerful than both the Xbox One and PS4 Pro. It was capable of running a test version of Forza in native 4k and 60 FPS. Other games will likely be able to do the same, but will need to have developers support the option for 4K and 60 FPS.

Games that don’t have Scorpio support will still see benefits. These games will see higher or more stable frame rate, faster load times, no screen tearing, and improve texture filtering. This will work similar to backwards compatible Xbox 360 games running on Xbox One. The Scorpio will also be able to capture gameplay at 4k and 60 FPS with its built in game DVR.

The full specs for the Scorpio and current console can be seen below.
