Disc based sports game Windjammers is getting a closed beta for PS4. The closed beta will begin June 8th and end on June 12th. Those interested in joining the beta can sign up here.
This announcement was accompanied by a video which shows gameplay and features WWE Star Xavier Woods.
When the game launches sometime in 2017, it will feature five different game modes, competitive online multiplayer, several unique characters, and various other modern features such as trophies and leader boards. A PlayStation Vita version will release alongside the PS4 launch.
For those who still don’t know what Windjammers is, the most recent example of its mechanics and gameplay is Disc Jam. Otherwise the game be described as a simple two-button game where the goal is to throw a disc into an opponent’s goal. There are multiple ways to throw the disc: Normal Throw, Curved Throw, Toss Up, Power Throw, Power Toss Up, Special Throw, and Counter. Each character also has different stats that change how hard they can throw, how fast they can run, and they also have a unique special throw. While not especially complex the game has been praised for having a similar appeal as a fighting game, but without the need to know complex moves.
