Rainbow Six Quarantine was first unveiled during Ubisoft’s E3 2019 conference, but the COVID-19 pandemic (along with other factors) made the company decide to rename the game to Rainbow Six Extraction. Although this announcement was made just yesterday, it seems this new name has been in a public document for over a month. Yet, no one noticed.
Axios gaming editor Stephen Totilo took note of this when reading a public financial document that was released back in May. It’s not clear if the title was finalized at that point, but the bit of text Totilo linked in his tweet lists Rainbow Six Extraction along with Far Cry 6 as games that were postponed to 2022 because of the pandemic.
Details like this are typically caught because of public disclosures of sensitive documents. So it’s rather odd that no one spotted this bit of information before the company released it themselves.
