The NPD Group has released its monthly sales report for June, which revealed which games, consoles, and accessories sold the most in the US. They also give an overview of the gaming industry for this market, showing where boosts where had.

People have overall been spending more money on video games–including hardware, software, and accessories–brining it up by 5% from June of last of year. Total spending for the first six months of 2021 reached a staggering $28.9 billion, up 15% in comparison to the first six months of 2020.

The Nintendo Switch was once again the top-dog in terms of sold consoles for June 2021. However, the Xbox Series generation of consoles managed to do the best in in terms of dollar sales. Actually, this is the best dollar sales of Xbox hardware for the month of June since the previous record set in June 2011.

Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 continues to be the fastest-selling console in US history based on unit sales through its first eight months.

Moving forward to game sales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was June 2021’s best selling game for the US. It was also the highest launch-month dollar sales for any title in the series, more than doubling 2016’s Ratchet & Clank for PS4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War nabbed second, followed by Mario Golf: Super Rush in third for its debut month. MLB: The Show 21 landed fourth last month, with Scarlet Nexus rounding out the top five during its launch month.

As far as accessories go, the black DualSense controller for the PS5 was the best-selling accessory overall in June 2021. Total spending on accessories actually dropped by 1% to $207 million. For the first half of 2021, total spending on these products was $1.2 billion, up 14% year-over-year.
