With the release of The Witcher TV series back in December 2019, the latest Netflix fantasy show became somewhat of a household name. It currently holds a 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and has caused a major boost across the franchise.
People have been purchasing The Witcher books in massive numbers, bringing the revenue up 562 percent from the same period in 2018. The show has also impacted the gaming side of the franchise.
The Witcher has been within the gaming community for quite some time and is already extremely popular. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which was released back in May 2015, has sold over 20 million units as of June 2019 (confirmed by CD Projekt Red). It was also recently ported to the Nintendo Switch in October of last year, a little under two months before the Netflix show aired.
Combining those two factors and there’s some serious boost for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sales. By the end of Q4 2019, physical sales for the game were 554 percent higher than in December of 2018. Without the Nintendo Switch release, it still had a 63 percent increase.
Whether you like the show, the game, the books or all of it, the sales for The Witcher franchise show what an incredible story it has to offer.
