Resident Evil 4 is making a comeback–but not in the way many were hoping. The third-person action game is getting reworked for virtual reality, returning as a first-person shooter for the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset.

Campcom announced this new version of RE4 at its 25th Anniversary Resident Evil Showcase, where they gave a peek at the gameplay that can be expected when RE4 makes its way to VR. While taking on the role of Leon in first-person, you’ll use Quest 2’s motion controls to do things like pick up and manipulate objects, aim and fire your weapon, and use your combat knife.

For the most part, the game looks the same. The difference being more versatility when fighting enemies, since Leon will now be able to hold a gun in one hand and a knife in the other.

Resident Evil 4 Is Being Overhauled For Oculus Quest 2

While the showcase gave a glimpse of the game in virtual reality, it didn’t have a lot of details about what to expect. More information will be coming on April 21st, when Oculus has its own Oculus Gaming Showcase.

Unfortunately, that’s all the Resident Evil 4 news Capcom had to share during the showcase event. There was not a peep on the much-rumored Resident Evil 4 Remake as a follow up to the successful Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes that have been released in the last few years.
