Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Release Date Announced, Story Trailer Out Now

Cap­com has announced that the long await­ed sequel Mar­vel Vs. Cap­com: Infi­nite will launch Sep­tem­ber 19th, 2017 for Xbox One, PlaySta­tion 4 and PC. Along­side this announce­ment, Cap­com has released a sto­ry trail­er and revealed 8 new characters.

The trail­er show­cas­es a new sto­ry mode which is a first for the fran­chise. In the trail­er itself, Ultron can be seen work­ing with Sig­ma from Mega Man X. By com­bin­ing their pow­ers they bring togeth­er the two uni­verse and plan to infect all organ­ic life with a cyber­net­ic virus that allows them com­plete con­trol. Cap­com had this to say about the new sto­ry mode:

For the first time in fran­chise his­to­ry, the Mar­vel and Cap­com uni­vers­es col­lide in a visu­al­ly stun­ning and immer­sive cin­e­mat­ic Sto­ry Mode, as heroes and vil­lains bat­tle togeth­er to save their merged worlds from a sin­is­ter new threat, Ultron Sig­ma, a com­bi­na­tion of the robot­ic foes known as Ultron from the Mar­vel Uni­verse and Sig­ma from the Cap­com Uni­verse, this psy­chot­ic vil­lain is obsessed with infect­ing all organ­ic life with a cyber­net­ic virus. His­to­ry’s great­est gath­er­ing of war­riors must now unite to fight back against Ultron Sig­ma and save their new­ly formed world.”

As for the eight new­ly announced char­ac­ters, they include five Mar­vel char­ac­ters and three Cap­com char­ac­ters. The Mar­vel char­ac­ters are Ultron, Hulk, Hawk­eye, Rock­et Rac­coon and Thor. Cap­com char­ac­ters include Strid­er Hiryu, Chris Red­field, and Chun-Li. Oth­er con­firmed char­ac­ters are Mor­ri­g­an from Dark­stalk­ers, Ryu, Mega Man X, Cap­tain Mar­vel, Iron Man and Cap­tain America.

Two new stages were also announced, Avengers Tow­er and Throne Room.

When Mar­vel Vs. Cap­com: Infi­nite launch­es it will cost $59.99. There are also cur­rent­ly two oth­er edi­tions of the game that come with extra con­tent. Deluxe Edi­tion will cost $89.99 and will come with two addi­tion­al cos­tumes, Glad­i­a­tor Hulk and Com­mand Mis­sion X. It will also include the 2017 char­ac­ter pass which gives access to six post-launch char­ac­ters which begins with Sigma.

A Collector’s Edi­tion will cost $199.99 and include four inter­link­ing dio­ra­mas of Iron Man, Cap­tain Mar­vel, Mega Man X, and Chun-Li, LED-pow­ered Infin­i­ty Stones, and the Deluxe Edi­tion of the game. Those who pre-orders any ver­sion of the game will also receive the War­rior Thor and Evil Ryu costumes.
