Capcom has announced that the long awaited sequel Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite will launch September 19th, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Alongside this announcement, Capcom has released a story trailer and revealed 8 new characters.
The trailer showcases a new story mode which is a first for the franchise. In the trailer itself, Ultron can be seen working with Sigma from Mega Man X. By combining their powers they bring together the two universe and plan to infect all organic life with a cybernetic virus that allows them complete control. Capcom had this to say about the new story mode:
“For the first time in franchise history, the Marvel and Capcom universes collide in a visually stunning and immersive cinematic Story Mode, as heroes and villains battle together to save their merged worlds from a sinister new threat, Ultron Sigma, a combination of the robotic foes known as Ultron from the Marvel Universe and Sigma from the Capcom Universe, this psychotic villain is obsessed with infecting all organic life with a cybernetic virus. History’s greatest gathering of warriors must now unite to fight back against Ultron Sigma and save their newly formed world.”
As for the eight newly announced characters, they include five Marvel characters and three Capcom characters. The Marvel characters are Ultron, Hulk, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon and Thor. Capcom characters include Strider Hiryu, Chris Redfield, and Chun-Li. Other confirmed characters are Morrigan from Darkstalkers, Ryu, Mega Man X, Captain Marvel, Iron Man and Captain America.
Two new stages were also announced, Avengers Tower and Throne Room.
When Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite launches it will cost $59.99. There are also currently two other editions of the game that come with extra content. Deluxe Edition will cost $89.99 and will come with two additional costumes, Gladiator Hulk and Command Mission X. It will also include the 2017 character pass which gives access to six post-launch characters which begins with Sigma.
A Collector’s Edition will cost $199.99 and include four interlinking dioramas of Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Mega Man X, and Chun-Li, LED-powered Infinity Stones, and the Deluxe Edition of the game. Those who pre-orders any version of the game will also receive the Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu costumes.
