According to the most recent games trailer for Sony, Horizon Forbidden West is still set to release on PS4 and PS5 later this year. The trailer suggests the sequel will launch in the second half of 2021, while also showing the closest up-to-date information for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Gran Turismo 7.
The trailer (captured by IGN) features the recently revealed June release date for Insomniac’s latest Ratchet and Clank adventure. There was also an omission of a 2021 release window for Gran Turismo 7, which suggests the “anticipated second half 2021” caption for Horizon Forbidden West is correct. You can see the trailer below:
A second ad on Instagram (via VCG) confirms this, stating that Forbidden West might come in the second half of 2021. Statements made by PlayStation’s Jim Ryan seem to echo this, with him stating he felt confident about the release of Returnal, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and Horizon Forbidden West in an interview with GQ last week.
In that interview, Ryan also mentioned Sony giving developers the space to delay their games if it was necessary. This was the case for Gran Turismo 7, which is no longer releasing in 2021.
