It’s been quite a few years since a new Crash Bandicoot from the main series was released. We’ve seen remasters of the three original titles and some racing spin-offs, but only rumors of an upcoming addition to the numbered entries. That wait is finally over.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, a “true sequel” Activision says, follows right where Crash Bandicoot: Warped left off. Now, Dr. N. Tropy, Neo Cortex and Uka Uka have escaped their penitentiary with plans to take over the world (as usual). Of course, you’ll step in to stop them, with four special Quantum Masks to “bend the rules of reality” in your favor. This includes the Time Mask (slows time down) and the Gravity Mask (lets you jump upside down).
While no indication was given the game was coming to PC and the Nintendo Switch, it might be announced on a later date. Toys For Bob, the same development team that brought us the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, is currently working on Crash Bandicoot 4. The game will use the same basic platforming gameplay of the original titles, with additions like wall-running and rail grinding. It will also feature a complete overhauled art style, and you’ll be able to play as Neo Cortex, Crash or Coco.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, is releasing on October 2nd, retailing at $60 and is available for pre-order now. You can see the trailer below:
