Bethesda has announced a new Fallout game and it seems like it is a new type of Fallout experience. Titled Fallout 76, this latest entry in to the series looks like it is a prequel to the other Fallout games.
Fallout 76 will involve vault 76, this isn’t the first time vault 76 has been mentioned, both Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 reference it. You can check out the Fallout Wikia for more information on the lore behind vault 76.
Fallout 76 takes place in the year 2102 (according to the year displayed on the Pipboy in the trailer), 59 years before the events in Fallout and 175 years before the event in Fallout 3. That makes this game set far earlier than any other Fallout title.
The trailer features Reclamation Day, while what Reclamation Day is exactly is yet to be explained, it looks like it is supposed to be the day the vault opens up and the vault dwellers move out in to the world and start rebuilding.
No details on what the game play of Fallout 76 will be like yet, Bethesda says they will have more information during their upcoming July 10th E3 showcase.
Rumors are pointing to Fallout 76 being a Rust like survival, building, multiplayer. While these are rumors for now, Jason Schreier from Kotaku claim they have sources saying Fallout 76 is “Fallout 76 is in fact an online survival RPG that’s heavily inspired by games like DayZ and Rust”. You can read more about that at the link provided above.
Bethesda did confirm that Fallout 76 will be available on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One, but did not confirm a release date as of the time of this writing.
I would not mind a multiplayer Fallout experience if done properly. Ill be keeping my eye out for Fallout 76 during Bethesda’s E3 showcase. You can watch it live July 10th 2018 at 6:30 pm Pacific time / 9:30 pm Eastern Time on Bethesda’s twitch channel.
