Over three weeks ago, Guy ‘Dr Disrespect’ Beahm was banned from Twitch and has been rather silent since it all went down. In one of the first interviews since the ban, Beahm suggests he is considering legal action because of the miscommunication with the company over the situation. Yet, no explanation for why he was banned was provided.
Beahm gave the interview to PC Gamer, where he cautiously answered questions surrounding reasons for his ban amid potential future legal action. He doesn’t share why he was banned, and refused to provide a guess, but did confirm he wouldn’t be returning to Twitch.
When asked about why Twitch would not explain the ban to him, Beahm responded, “Yeah, that’s the kind of the mind-blowing thing about all of this. Obviously, for legal counsel, I have to be careful here. But I can say however, that I will not be returning to Twitch, so, I mean, that’s it.”
From the interview, it’s unclear on what ground Beahm intended to sue Twitch, which could make his words more out of frustration than actual intent.
He was also pressed on whether he thought the ban was triggered his recent sharing of conspiracy theories surrounding COVID-19 and 5G networks. Beahm’s publicist wouldn’t allow him to speculate about it, instead stating that Twitch had not reprimanded the streamer prior to the ban.
Beahm also declined to weigh in whether the ban was associated with the recent stories of sexual harassment and assault within the gaming industry.
The interview includes insights into Beahm’s plans, including hints to a reboot for Dr. Disrespect. He’s also stated he isn’t currently looking into any exclusivity deals with other streaming platforms, and no date has been set for his return to streaming.
