Today, during Bungie’s livestream, the next chapter for Destiny 2 was revealed. It’s titled Beyond Light and will be coming out towards the end of fall, on September 22nd, 2020. A bunch of other details were also unveiled, including the next destination, a new power and what the story will entail.
The release of Beyond Light will mark the fourth year of content for Destiny 2, adding another area to travel to: Europa, the moon of Jupiter. The story missions will heavily focus on the arrival of the Pyramid ships that were teased at the end of Destiny 2’s original story campaign.
Bungie also revealed an all-new power for players: Stasis, a new elemental power formed from the Darkness. Statis will be joining the other element powers — Arc, Solar and Void — providing players will all-new Supers and abilities to use.
The Fallen, who have been scattered and disorganized for some time, have returned, and are showing on Europa under a new leader named Eramis. It appears they will be wielding the power of the Darkness — so they will likely have new powers. Just like the rest of the Fallen, Eramis wants revenge for the Traveler abandoning them centuries ago and taking away the power of the Light.
Beyond Light will also continue the story of the Exo Stranger, a character that hasn’t surfaced since the vanilla story campaign in Destiny 1. Destiny 2’s next raid will take place in Deep Stone Crypt. This area is the birthplace of the Exo race, having been teased since the original Destiny.
