This weekend at Anime Expo Bandai Namco announced a video game based on Little Witch Academia.
Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time will be a side scrolling beat’em up RPG and will have a separate story from the short movies and anime. Regardless many of the characters established in the Anime will appear in the game.
Here is the story summary given by Bandai Namco:
“Having been inspired by a famous witch named Shiny Chariot, an ordinary girl named Atsuko “Akko” Kagari enrolls at Luna Nova Magical Academy — a prestigious school for young girls training to become witches. The school will change Akko life and she will meet new friends that will be part of her life and adventure. While the summer holidays are approaching the witches face an inexplicable phenomenon in the Luna Nova caused by Seven wonders which has been passed down for several centuries. This will lead them to an adventure to unravel the seven wonders and that will change their lives.”
Alongside the announcement an English trailer was released that showcases some gameplay.
Little Witch Academia originally began as a short film by Studio Trigger in 2013. Two years later a second short film was then partially funded through kickstarter, receiving four times its initial goal. This year an anime series was released and recently became available worldwide through Netflix.
Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time launches early 2018 for PS4 and PC in North America and Europe. A Japanese release is planned for November 30th along with a special limited edition.
