A special Pokémon Presents video presentaiton was shown today, with The Pokémon Company revealing a brand-new Pokémon game for the Switch. It’s titled New Pokémon Snap, a spin-off based on the classic version made for the Nintendo 64.

The game is basically like a photoshoot, where you take pictures of Pokémon in various locations. The New Pokémon Snap brings you to islands that have a variety of locales, including beaches and jungles. You’ll “research various Pokémon in their natural habitats”, which will fill you’re Photodex (likely similar to the Pokédex from the main series). The company also stated you’ll discover “new, never-before-seen Pokémon expressions and behaviors.”

The original Pokémon Snap was release in 1999, and was a fan favorite, one that players hoped would make its way back on the Nintendo Switch. The new game is being developed by Bandai Namco, which also partnered with Nintendo on other exclusives like Super Smash Bros. No release day was given for the New Pokémon Snap during the presentation, but it will likely be in the fall or holiday season.

In other news, The Pokémon Company has started a new Max Raid event that will be giving out a free Pokémon if enough players complete it.
