Ubisoft posted on their blog today about Watch Dogs 2’s sixth major title update, which is coming on July 4th. This latest update is the biggest free update yet, and includes what players have been long-waiting for — 4‑Player Party mode.
Watch Dogs 2 producer, Kris Young, said:
“It’s always more fun to be in a team, and the online modes we have are great, but we really wanted to expand on them. We also pay attention to what our community is saying, and it’s something they’ve been clamoring for, so we’re happy to finally make it available to everyone.”
Here is how it works: Players start a public or private party with room that can fit four friends (or strangers with matchmaking). From there the party can roam San Francisco freely — you can start activities like Bounties, Invasions, Loot Trucks, Races, Showd0wn, Man VS Machine Robot Fights, and the DedSec Virus, all with your four party team.
The four party teams are not supposed to be competitive, its more about cooperation. Learderboards will not be affected will in 4‑Player Party mode.
This update will also include some slight fixes and improvements so playing with others is a, overall, a better experience. Gameplay balances have been adjusted, along with an option to let you skip the skip the cinematic scene when using the 3D printer, shuffler takedown move and outfit that some players weren’t able to unlock properly, and the usually stability improvements.
That’s not all. To celebrate the Independence Day, Watch Dogs 2 will be holding a special in-game event during the month of July that includes fireworks displays over the city of San Francisco and a festive change to the paintball gun that makes it shoot red, white, and blue pellets.
