Tom Clancy’s XDefiant, Ubisoft’s upcoming free-to-play shooter that has drawn similarities to Call of Duty, no longer has the Tom Clancy name. It is now just XDefiant.
The reason for the change come from Ubisoft making the decision to include “factions from games outside of the Tom Clancy universe.” Previously announced factions from titles like Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division will still be included.
XDefiant has also gone through a logo change as well. No more graffiti-filled, punk-esc logo anymore, with the promotional materials from the game’s 2021 announcement replaced by the new logo.
The rebranding of the game comes alongside Ubisoft announcing “Insider Sessions” for the shooter that will allow the general public to participate in testing sessions alongside developers. The tests will begin with a small number of players on PC and eventually expand to other platforms and a greater number of participants.

Those who have previously signed up for those earlier XDefiant tests won’t need to sign up again, and will automatically be in the potential player pool for the upcoming Insider Sessions. These test sessions are under NDA.
While XDefiant is not a “Tom Clancy” game anymore, Ubisoft still has other free-to-play Tom Clancy shooter in development: Ghost Recon Frontline and The Division Heartland. A closed test for Ghost Recon Frontline was delayed indefinitely shortly after the game was announced. Ubisoft stated the reason for the postponement of the test is to create “the best experience possible.”
