Posted in a tweet today, Ubisoft announced they will opening two new studios in Europe. One will be in Bordeaux, France and the other in Berlin, Germany, sometime later this year. It is stated in their blog post that both these studios will be working on AAA, multiplatform titles, along with assisting in creating new games for the “biggest franchises in gaming.”
Christine Burgess-Quémard, executive director of Ubisoft’s worldwide studios, said:
“We pride ourselves on attracting and retaining the best creative talent around the world, and on establishing video games as a viable career option and economic contributor in new locales.”
These two studios will also be working collaboratively with teams around the world, pulling from a “rich pool of local talent”.
Ubisoft Bordeaux
Ubisoft already has many studios established in France, including Paris, Lyon, Annecy, and Montpellier. The Bordeaux studio will be working with these other french development teams who led games like Just Dance, Steep, and Ghost Recon Wildlands. Ubisoft Berlin
The Berlin team will be working with BlueByte, the industry leader in PC strategy games. Ubisoft Berlin will be and BlueByte teams are collaborating in both Düsseldorf and Mainz on an unannounced AAA project.
