The latest sales numbers for the US have come in, and February was another month Nintendo completely owned the market. The Nintendo Switch and the software for the console, both saw a massive month, with the overall US gaming business seeing an increase in revenue.

In total spending on the US in February — across gaming in its entirety — reached $4.6 billion, up 35% from last year. Spending from year-to-date hit $9.3 billion, up by 39%.

Hardware sales had the a large leap, rising 121% in comparison to February 2020, hitting $406 million. So far this year, spending on hardware has reached $724 million, 130%. This is in part due to the launches of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, combined with the Switch’s success.

The Switch is again the best-selling console in the US, in terms of unit sales and dollars. It has officially sold more than the DS and is now Nintendo’s second-best selling console, behind the Wii.

The PS5 was the second-best selling hardware for February, and NPD said the system continues to be the fastest-selling console ever in the US after four months on the market.

Moving onto games, Nintendo’s Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury was number one on the chart. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War trials right behind in second, followed by Persona 5: Strikers. Spider-Man: Miles Morales takes fourth, while Madden NFL rounds out the top five.
