It’s been anoth­er month and Mat Pis­catel­la from the NPD Group has gath­ered data regard­ing the top sold games for the Unit­ed States. Not only did he list the top twen­ty games sold for Jan­u­ary of this year, but oth­er gam­ing sales fig­ures as well.

U.S. con­sumers spent a record $4.7 bil­lion on the video game indus­try through Jan­u­ary of this year. That’s a 42% increase from the last year. The largest leap was hard­ware sales, which saw a 144% jump from $131 mil­lion to $319 mil­lion in sales. The sec­ond is gam­ing acces­sories, going from $128 mil­lion to $222 mil­lion at a 73% increase from last year.

As far as the top twen­ty, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War took num­ber one for Jan­u­ary 2021. Assas­s­in’s Creed Val­hal­la is cur­rent­ly sec­ond, mov­ing up from third. Spi­der-Man: Miles Morales also moved up a posi­tion, from fourth to third. Mad­den NFL came up a place from fifth to fourth; and Ani­mal Cross­ing: New Hori­zons rounds out the top five.
