The PlayStation VR 2 has had an impressive launch, despite the headset only being available through Sony’s store until it hit retail shelves in May. According to the sales numbers released by Sony, the PSVR 2 has outsold the original PSVR in just the first 6 weeks.
A Sony business update found on Resetara, reveals the PSV2 2 sold 600,000 units in the first 6 weeks of launch, beating the PSVR’s release sales by 8%. Yet again, this is despite this is despite when Sony initially sold the headsets through its own storefront, only giving them to retailers month’s after its launch.
An earlier report claimed the PSVR 2 was selling poorly, but the new data shows an upswing in headset sales that ending up roughly being two times what was estimated by Bloomberg. It is unclear if Sony managed to ship the 2 million unit target goal.
