A Diablo 4 player who reached level 100 in Hardcore mode, just days after the game’s release, has lost their character. Not only did they loose the level 100 character, but all the gear attached to it as well, all due to an unfortunate disconnect.
The player, Souaïb ‘cArn’ Hanaf, reached level 100 in Hardcore with a Barbarian character on June 5th. Blizzard even acknowledged cArn’s achievement with a congratulatory tweet the next day. This makes cArn eligible for the Diablo 4 Hardcore Victories Contest, where the first 100 players to reach level 100 in Hardcore mode will have their names etched into a statue of the infamous Lilith.
On June 6th, cArn was continuing to play with their Hardcore character trying to earn more powerful gear. The game then froze and cArn was kicked back to the main menu, where they realized their character was gone. When playing in Hardcore mode, dying and disconnecting causes your character to be wiped. Once lost, you have to start all over again.
While cArn remains the first player to reach level 100 in Hardcore mode, they are still upset by the ultimate disappearance of their character. “I don’t care about my level 100, I care about my gear,” cArn said to PCGamesN.
