Sony Reveals Partial List Of Games For Reinvented PlayStation Plus Service

Sony has offi­cial­ly con­firmed a par­tial list of games that will be avail­able when its revamped PS Plus sub­scrip­tion ser­vice launch­es this June in the US. PS Plus Extra and Pre­mi­um tiers will include a selec­tion of PS4 and PS5 titles. Sev­er­al games from PlaySta­tion Studios–including Mar­vel’s Spi­der-Man, Retur­nal, and Demon’s Souls–will be avail­able for mem­bers in the new Game Cat­a­log sec­tion, along­side third-par­ty titles like Assas­s­in’s Creed Val­hal­la, Con­trol: Ulti­mate Edi­tion, and Mor­tal Kom­bat 11.

Clas­sic titles from the orig­i­nal PlaySta­tion and PlaySta­tion Portable will also be among the avail­able games, albeit a small­er list. This library will include a mix of first and third-par­ty titles like Ape Escape, Syphon Fil­ter, and Tekken 2. Sony states the clas­sic games will come with a new user inter­face, menus, and qual­i­ty-of-life features–including allow­ing play­ers to rewind game­play and save progress at any point in a game.

Those who have already pur­chased dig­i­tal ver­sions of these clas­sic games won’t have to sign up to PS Plus to access them on PS4 or PS5 (and, obvi­ous­ly, they won’t have to pur­chase them again). “When these titles are released for PS4 and PS5, play­ers can head to PlaySta­tion Store and down­load a ver­sion for the con­soles at no extra cost if they already own the dig­i­tal ver­sion of the title,” Sony explained in its blog post. “Some of the titles will also be avail­able for indi­vid­ual purchase.”

Sony also unveiled a par­tial list of PS3 games that will be includ­ed through stream­ing and upcom­ing game tri­als. PS Plus Essen­tial, which is the same as the cur­rent PS Plus, will still get access to two free games every month. How­ev­er, PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Pre­mi­um sub­scribers will be grant­ed addi­tion­al games in the mid­dle of the month, accord­ing to Sony. The num­ber of games will vary by month.

It was also announced that Ubisoft+ Clas­sics would be inte­grat­ed in with any PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Pre­mi­um sub­scrip­tions. You can check out the list of known games com­ing to the high­er tiers of PS Plus below.
