Sonic Origins Will Be Getting Fixes, As Confirmed By Sega

Sega has officially confirmed that fixes for a variety of bugs are making their way to Sonic Origins. Sonic the Hedgehog social media manager Katie Chrzanowski, responded to a tweet questioning about a future update, with Chraznowski confirming it was in the works.

The team’s been listening and is working on fixing a variety of issues right now,” Chrzanowski tweeted. “We’ll make sure to get some more official messaging out once we have more info for everyone.”

Sonic Origins was released in June to fan criticism of the classic Sonic collection, saying they had graphical and performance problems, as well as odd issues that weren’t around in the original games. A modder was attempting to fix the game, but gave up shortly after calling the game “absolute shit.”

One of the official developers had a nerve struck by these issues, saying that Sega’s in-house team “made major modifications to the build” that was submitted to them. This resulted in the high number of bugs sprouting up in the game. Simon Thomely from Headcannon posted to Twitter that the build given to Sega was by no means perfect, but that “what is in Origins is also not what we turned in.”

We asked to do major fixes near submission, but weren’t allowed due to submission and approval rules,” Thomley stated back in June. “We asked about delays early and repeatedly but were told they weren’t possible.”
