Silent Hill Screenshot Allegedly Leaked, Then Taken For Copyright Claim

Four alleged Silent Hill images leaked to Twitter from a user by the name of Aesthetic Gamer (also known as Dusk Golem), which has since been taken down due to a DMCA request. Rumors about another Silent Hill game has been swirling around for years, and these images brought doubt that they were even real to begin with. However, the copyright claims do suggest that the images leaked could be the real deal.

In the original tweet shared by Aesthetic Gamer, they wrote, “This is from a relatively new source for me, but I have been given more than enough proof to believe them. I also will mention the names ‘Anita & Maya,’ ‘SMS Messages,’ and this is not the only SH game in dev. The shots are a bit dated, from 2020.”

The images are not visible on Aesthetic Gamers’s Twitter account anymore, but you can still go over to ResetEra forums to check them out. The first image shows a room packed with garbage, peeling wallpaper, and an old babies crib in the corner. The second shows a woman who’s face has pieces missing from it, with the words “minger” and “I hate myself” written into those spots.

The third image shows a hallway filled to the brim with sticky notes, coated in a red light from floor to ceiling. Words like “Pervert, dumb,” as well as profanity, can be seen on the notes. A fourth photo shows what appears to be the concept art for the third image.

Of course, not everyone is convinced the leak is true. Former Konami employee, Tomm Hulett, wrote on Twitter, “If a studio has multiple people sending materials to a known leaker, they are not professional enough to do the game justice.” In a following tweet he added, , “To be clear I tweeted this partially as proof these leaks are fake. I don’t believe them. I’ve already seen people claiming I am confirming them as true. I do not work for Konami and have not in nearly 10 years. I do not have special/secret knowledge about SH.”

Aesthetic Gamer’s description of what to expect from the game appears to include SMS messages, which likely references an old rumor about a real-time interactive components–where you get text messages sent to you. On ResetEra, Aesthetic Gamer also claimed that Sony is still involved in the project, and that Konami was the one who filed the DMCA order.
