During Sony’s State of Play livestream, a new trailer for Sifu was released. At the very end of this trailer, it was revealed that Sifu was delayed, now launching in early 2022. It was set to release in 2021 for PS4, PS5, and PC.

The trailer also gave us another look at Sifu’s gameplay, including the odd aging mechanic. Every time you die, your character will age a little bit more. Die enough times and the young warrior will become and elderly, but highly skilled, master fighter.

Sifu’s combat is focused on close-range battles, which encourages you to use the environment to your advantage. Slamming enemies into walls or tripping them over furniture is a great way to disengage them. You can also use weapons. However, enemies can use the same tactics, making this a rather difficult game to maneuver through.

Sifu is developed by Sloclap, the same studio who brought us Absolver, a combat-heavy game in an online world.
