Rare, the developer behind the pirate adventure game Sea of Thieves, continues to break records. Microsoft announced the game has now passed 20 million players since its release three years ago this month.
In a blog post, the developer stated Sea of Thieves still has plans for 2021, and will be the biggest year yet. However, Rare did not elaborate on what those plans are.
The final update for season one of Sea of Thieves is out now, and it features a new Vault Raiders event which kicks off on March 25th. There is also a new emote that players can pick up for free, and an Emporium sale to mark the occasion.
Additionally, the developers are celebrating the 20 million milestone and the game’s third anniversary with a series of freebies and events. Everyone who logs on between now and March 25th will get the Prosperous Captain’s Sails for their ship free of charge. Game Pass members will get the Jump for Joy emote if they log in between now and March 21st.
Game Pass Ultimate members will receive the Ocean Crawler Bundle when they claim it anytime between now and June 18th.
Seas of Thieves is half-ff this weekend, running from March 18th — 21st. The game is also included with Xbox Game Pass on PC and console.
A “Gold and Glory Weekend” event is also running this weekend, during which players will earn double gold and Trading Company reputation, as well as extra seasonal renown.
Lastly, the final season one bonuses for Twitch partners are now available, until March 23rd. These include Gilded Phoenix equipment and a new Hornpipe dance emote.
