Rare, the devel­op­er behind the pirate adven­ture game Sea of Thieves, con­tin­ues to break records. Microsoft announced the game has now passed 20 mil­lion play­ers since its release three years ago this month.

In a blog post, the devel­op­er stat­ed Sea of Thieves still has plans for 2021, and will be the biggest year yet. How­ev­er, Rare did not elab­o­rate on what those plans are.

The final update for sea­son one of Sea of Thieves is out now, and it fea­tures a new Vault Raiders event which kicks off on March 25th. There is also a new emote that play­ers can pick up for free, and an Empo­ri­um sale to mark the occasion.

Addi­tion­al­ly, the devel­op­ers are cel­e­brat­ing the 20 mil­lion mile­stone and the game’s third anniver­sary with a series of free­bies and events. Every­one who logs on between now and March 25th will get the Pros­per­ous Cap­tain’s Sails for their ship free of charge. Game Pass mem­bers will get the Jump for Joy emote if they log in between now and March 21st. 

Game Pass Ulti­mate mem­bers will receive the Ocean Crawler Bun­dle when they claim it any­time between now and June 18th. 

Seas of Thieves is half-ff this week­end, run­ning from March 18th — 21st. The game is also includ­ed with Xbox Game Pass on PC and console. 

A “Gold and Glo­ry Week­end” event is also run­ning this week­end, dur­ing which play­ers will earn dou­ble gold and Trad­ing Com­pa­ny rep­u­ta­tion, as well as extra sea­son­al renown. 

Last­ly, the final sea­son one bonus­es for Twitch part­ners are now avail­able, until March 23rd. These include Gild­ed Phoenix equip­ment and a new Horn­pipe dance emote.
