Rare announced a final beta for Sea of Thieves today, giving all players the opportunity to get their hands on the game before its launch on March 20th. The studio stated, “This gives us an opportunity to grow our scale testing to our largest number yet, it allows us to test a broader range of features than ever before.”
It is an open beta, so anyone who has an Xbox One or One X are allowed to test it out this weekend. It started earlier today and will end on 2 a.m. PST (10 a.m. GMT) on Sunday, March 11. You can download this beta, here.
Content in the Beta
There will be plenty more during this beta than previous closed betas. Alongside the Gold Hoarders, players will be testing Merchant Alliance voyages for the first time. Players should also expect to see Skeleton Forts, which are occupied by…well skeletons. These forts will have “tell-tale” clouds above them, which is a marking for great rewards. However, there may be other players who will see it, or already be there.
In addition to more available content, Xbox One X enhancements will also be included in the final beta.
What to Expect
This is Rare’s biggest test for Sea of Thieves and they are planning on quite a bit of people attending this beta. So if you can’t get in right away at a peak time period, don’t freak out. You’ll be put in a queue while they manage player load.
Players are also allowed to stream during the beta, so feel free to use Twitch, Mixer or upload your videos to YouTube.
