The PlayStation 5 exclusive, Returnal, has been delayed from its previous March release date. It’s only a slight delay, since it is now set to launch on April 30th.
Sony announced the delay on Twitter, saying Housemarque (the developers) required more time to polish the game further before its launch.
“SIE and Housemarque have made the decision to move the release date in order to give the team extra time to continue to polish the game to the level of quality players expect from Housemarque,” the post reads. “See you in April!”
Returnal won’t be coming to PS4, since the game makes use of the PS5’s exclusive features. The SSD in the new console is said to remove almost all of the loading time when respawning. Since Returnal is a rogue-lite game, the repeated runs will become less frustrating because of load times. The DualSense controller also has its own role, allowing Housemarque to design gameplay features around the haptic triggers.
