The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles have been extremely difficult to find for quite some time. Retailers have been selling just handfuls of consolers online every week, and they’ve been even harder to find in a physical location. According to a new report, Best Buy might be prepping to sell PS5’s and Xbox Series X’s at some of its stores this week.
This report comes from TechRadar, who states that Best Buy will have stock of Xbox Series X and the disc drive version of the PS5 in stores on Thursday, September 24th. This is the first time in over a month. If Best Buy allows customers to purchase either console in person (instead of ordering online to pick up), it would be the first time in a year since a major chain sold one in physical store.
TechRadar’s story suggests that Best Buy still has not indicated whether it will allow consumers to buy these consoles in store. Previously, the retailer has made buyers purchase them online and wait a couple of days before picking them up in person. However, Best Buy has been stockpiling and this could lead to in-store shopping. No matter what the situation is, Best Buy is planning on putting the consoles up for sale on Thursday, September 24th. So you might have a chance to grab whatever console you’re after.
As plenty of people are aware of, the current generation of consoles has been dealing with low stock and high demand. This is mostly driven by a worldwide microchip shortages and ongoing logistic issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
