A new spin-off for the Poké­mon fran­chise is on its way to the Nin­ten­do Switch ear­ly next year. Poké­mon Leg­ends: Arceus is an open-world RPG set in the Sin­noh region and it launch­es on Jan­u­ary 28th, 2022. Though the game is still a ways off, you can pre­order it now through mul­ti­ple retail­ers. The Poké­mon Com­pa­ny just gave an exten­sive new look at the game, which gives some great insight at what we can expect.

Pre­order Poké­mon Leg­ends: Arceus phys­i­cal­ly or dig­i­tal­ly, and you’ll get the Hisuian Growlithe Kimono Set, as shown above.

Any who pur­chas­es and down­loads the game from the Nin­ten­do eShop before May 9th, 2022, will also receive a code for 30 in-game Heavy Balls. Both the Balls and the Hisuian Growlithe Kimono Set can be obtained via the Mys­tery Gift fea­ture in Poké­mon Leg­ends: Arceus.

So far, the only phys­i­cal Poké­mon Leg­ends: Arceus pre­order bonus is avail­able via the Poké­mon Cen­ter. Pre­order there and you’ll also get the Arceus Sit­ting Cuties Plush (while sup­plies last). Oth­er phys­i­cal pre­order bonus­es will like­ly be announced clos­er to games launch.

You can pre­order Poké­mon Leg­ends: Arceus for the usu­al $60 at major retail­ers. If you wish to pre­order the game check out the retail­ers sell­ing it below.

Poké­mon Leg­ends: Arceus is set in a much ear­li­er time peri­od than the main entries. You play as a train­er who is index­ing the Sin­noh region’s first Pokédex. Sin­no­h’s Poké­mon Pro­fes­sor has brought three Poké­mon to Sinnoh–Rowlet, Cyn­daquil, and Oshawott–and of course, you get to choose one as your starter Poké­mon. The leg­endary Poké­mon which the game is named after, Arceus, is heart of the sto­ry and described as an “Alpha Pokémon.”

Poké­mon can be caught one of two ways. You can track them and throw a Poké Ball, or you can engage in the tra­di­tion­al turn-based com­bat. It’s unknown if there will be bat­tles against oth­er trainers.

Poké­mon Leg­ends Arceus was revealed along­side Poké­mon Bril­liant Dia­mond and Shin­ing Pearl, which are remakes of the Gen 4 titles in the series that are also set in the Sin­noh region. Poké­mon Bril­liant Dia­mond and Shin­ing Pearl are also avail­able to pre­order now, and got their own release date as well.
