PlayStation Halting All Software And Hardware Shipments To Russia

Sony has decid­ed to halt all soft­ware and hard­ware ship­ments in Rus­sia because of the coun­try’s inva­sion of Ukraine.

Sony Inter­ac­tive Enter­tain­ment (SIE) joins the glob­al com­mu­ni­ty in call­ing for peace in Ukraine,” a Sony spokesper­son shared in a state­ment with The Verge. “We have sus­pend­ed all soft­ware and hard­ware ship­ments, the launch of Gran Tur­is­mo 7, and oper­a­tions of the PlaySta­tion Store in Rus­sia.” The com­pa­ny also announced a $2 mil­lion dona­tion to the Unit­ed Nations High Com­mis­sion­er for Refugees and the NGO Save the Chil­dren to sup­port those being affect­ed by thee invasion.

PlaySta­tion is just anoth­er com­pa­ny to be added to the long list of those that are halt­ing all sales in Rus­sia. EA has stopped all dig­i­tal and phys­i­cal sales to Rus­sia and Belarus, and they’ve removed Russ­ian teams from FIFA 22 and NHL 22. CD Pro­jekt, Ubisoft, and Take-Two have all sus­pend­ed sales in Rus­sia. Microsoft, anoth­er major tech com­pa­ny, was also appalled at Rus­si­a’s inva­sion on Ukraine–so they too have halt­ed “all new sales” in the coun­try. Nin­ten­do has stopped send­ing ship­ments to Rus­sia, sit­ing “logis­tics.”
