The PlayStation 4 exclusive, Wild, appears to have been canceled. Spotted by VGC, Grubb said on his Giant Bomb series Grubbsnax, that Sheep Studio has stopped working on Wild. This is several months after studio head Michel Ancel retired from the game industry. Ancel previously worked on games like Beyond Good & Evil and Rayman.
“I can confirm that game is fully done. There is no Wild anymore… Wild is dead,” Grubb explained. He added that he believes Ancel just abandoned the project, causing it to be shut down. Grubb said “The team that was working on it was looking at maybe trying to stay together and work on other projects.”
Grubb went on to say that he doesn’t know exactly what happened, but the studio simply stated to him, “We’re not working on Wild anymore, but we do have a lot of talent here, so maybe we can work on some stuff.”
When Ancel spoke of his retirement, he mentioned that development on both wild and Beyond Good & Evil 2 would continue without his presence. Both of these games were announced years ago and have had no hint at a release date since. Wild was first introduced back in 2014, so it’s been seven years and it would be safe to say the game has seen a cancelation.
