Unfortunately, this is not a joke. Outriders, the latest title from developer People Can Fly, launched yesterday for both consoles and PC–but it failed to have cross-platform support. It also appears there will be a bit of a wait before the studio can get it working.

Outriders has had the cross-platform between PC and console players turned off as the studio investigates the issue with backend synchronization. The problem arrises when parties consisting of players from both PC and console eventually get kicked out, one by one.

People Can Fly posted to Reddit, informing players they can still manually invite players, bypassing matchmaking– but this issue will still happen regardless. However, Steam and Epic Games Store players are still able to play together, and cross-play between console players appears unaffected as well.

We are treating this issue with the highest priority and we are working on patches that will synchronize all platform code, which will resolve these issues,” the post reads.
