The next Nintendo Direct event has been announced, and it’s surprisingly soon. Nintendo revealed that the next Direct will happen Wednesday, February 9th. That’s tomorrow, at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET, so it’s a quick turnover from the announcement.
Nintendo’s showcase will run for about 40 minutes–so it’s a rather long stream–that will feature news “mainly” focused on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2022. Of course, the “mainly” part suggests the briefing could contain news about titles launching within different time frames.
Nintendo gave no teasers or indications as to what people can expect from this livestream, so it will just have to be left to the people to speculate. This is the first Nintendo Direct since the Animal Crossing: New Horizons-focused Direct in October and the general Direct from September 2021.
In other Nintendo news, the Switch recently surpassed 100 million consoles sold, out-selling the Wii and making it the best-selling home console for the company. Nintendo’s president also mentioned that the Switch is still only in the middle of its lifecycle.
