NieR: Atuomata Shipments And Digital Sales Pass 1 Million

Square Enix and Platinum Games have announced that NieR: Automata shipments and digital sales have exceeded 1 million.

NieR: Automata had a staggered release. It first released for PS4 in Japan on February 23rd then March 7th in North America and March 10th in Europe.  A PC release was the last to release on March 17th.

It is important to note that shipped copies do not mean sold games. This means that over a million physical copies have been sent to retailers.  Having a million copies shipped is a good sign for a series with a small cult following. For comparison the first NieR sold .29 million on Xbox 360 and .62 million on PS3 according to VG charts. This combined 910,000 copies were sold over the course of 7 years.

In response to the news director Yoko Toro and producer Yosuke Saito sent out tweets thanking fans. Yosuke Saito also mentioned that it is hard to believe the game has sold a million copies.

NieR: Automata has received almost universal praise and I believe rightfully so. You can read my full thoughts in our review of the game.

I am a Platinum lover and an ex- Cod-aholic. I've been playing games since I was 5 years old and I refuse to quit, despite my mother's attempts to get me to. God of War and its successors are my all time favorite games.
