Anoth­er Bat­tle Royale style title has been released for Xbox One play­ers, titled the Dar­win Project. It’s def­i­nite­ly not your aver­age Roy­al game, as it does­n’t tout they typ­i­cal “shoot-em’-up” weapons. It’ll be inter­est­ing to see how one of these match­es turns out.

There’s no huge play­er num­bers dur­ing a match, only 10. Described as; “Play­ers are always with­in arm’s reach of a tense con­fronta­tion with rivals. Con­tes­tants get­ting care­less or hop­ing to hide out and avoid encoun­ters will soon find them­selves frozen to death.”

Anoth­er major dif­fer­ence with this Roy­al is, not only are you try­ing to com­pete against oth­ers, but you must sur­vive the harsh win­ter sur­round­ings. So when you build a camp­fire or craft items, it leaves a trail for oth­er play­ers to find you. Make good use of weapons, traps, and scav­enged tools to gain the upper hand.

There’s anoth­er odd­i­ty, as there will be an 11th play­er who becomes the “Show Direc­tor. This play­er over­sees the oth­er ten duk­ing it out on the field in the form of a drone. They have the abil­i­ty to unleash spe­cial pow­ers like nukes, zone clo­sures, and grav­i­ty storms.

Dar­win Project is a third-per­son com­bat game, with play­ers hav­ing an axe and bow as their major weapons. How­ev­er, upon find­ing elec­tron­ics, you can add tools like ener­gy shields to your arsenal.
