Mass Effect Leg­endary Edi­tion has received a decent patch across all plat­forms, which fixed some visu­al bugs, as well as an issue on the Xbox Series X. The update is avail­able right now and ranges from 7 GB to 18 GB, depend­ing on what plat­form you own it on.

The May 17th patch notes indi­cate improve­ments to the iris shaders, and fix­es a prob­lem that would crash the launch­er on Xbox Series X while using a wire­less head­set. The notes stat­ed that this is still a pos­si­bil­i­ty is you enable or dis­able a head­set while inside the launch­er. How­ev­er, this should be tak­en care of in a lat­er update. 

The oth­er improve­ments are bro­ken up based on which game(s) they apply to. Tro­phy and Achieve­ment hunters will be glad to know that a fix to the first and third game will now track kills cor­rect­ly. Mean­while, Mass Effect 2 updates were focused on visu­al fidelity.

  • Fixed the main issue where the launch­er would crash or become unre­spon­sive on Xbox Series X when using a wire­less headset
    • Known issue: This can still hap­pen if you enable/disable a head­set in the launch­er. A future fix will resolve this issue.
  • Improved iris shaders for bet­ter inter­ac­tion with light and ambi­ent occlusion
  • Minor cal­i­bra­tions, fix­es, and sta­bil­i­ty improvements

  • Resolved an issue where the char­ac­ter code would some­times not dis­play in the squad menu
  • Improve­ments to pre-ren­dered cutscenes to reduce occa­sion­al artifacts

Mass Effect 2

  • Improved light­ing and shad­ows in some cinematics
  • Minor visu­al, ren­der­ing, and VFX improve­ments on some levels
  • Resolved minor text issues with achievements

Mass Effect 3

  • Fixed an issue where kills for achievements/trophies weren’t track­ing correctly
