Today, via Twitter, BioWare officially announced a release date for Mass Effect: Andromeda. According to Aaryn Flynn, the general manager at BioWare, Andromeda will launch in North America on Tuesday, March 21st, 2017. Europe has to wait a few days, until Thursday, March 23rd, 2017.

Apparently, this is BioWare’s “most ambitious Mass Effect game to date.” They are planning on giving us brand new stories, characters, planets, species, and introducing  new gameplay systems. Andromeda will also be put on the Frostbite engine for the first time.

Over the holiday break, the BioWare developers took home a version of the game for what they called the “holiday build”. It seems to be a tradition within the BioWare studio that goes as far back as the original days of Mass Effect.  When the devs returned from break the feedback received from them was obvious amazing, or they would not have secured a date so fast, and coming up so quickly.

It has been five years since Mass Effect 3, and it seems the gaming community as a whole is ready to see the next one. BioWare seems very ready to give to us, and is definitely excited to do so. Hopefully the game lives up to all the hype it has been receiving and this does not turn into another No Man’s Sky fiasco.
