Call of Duty: Vanguard has been out since November, making it only a few months old, but Infinity Ward is already teasing its own game. Of course, it’s a really vague tease–but the game is expected to arrive later this year. Infinity Ward posted an extremely short message to Twitter, just enough to get Call of Duty fans wondering and investigating.
The official Infinity Ward Twitter account confirmed a “new generation” of Call of Duty would be coming soon, telling fans to “stay frosty.” While this isn’t a lot to go on, it is definitely a sign to keep your eyes open for more news.
The new game is expected to launch in 2022, following the typically annual release schedule Activision Blizzard put the series in. Whenever this title does launch, we do know it will still available for PlayStation users. This tweet could also suggest that the next Call of Duty title may not release for the Xbox One or PS4. With Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard (which is still waiting for approval), it’s unclear what will happen to the Call of Duty series in the future. However, it is reported that the next three titles will still be released on PlayStation.
It seems a tad early to be releasing a teaser of any kind, since the current Call of Duty game is basically still in its infancy. Of course, this could be due to the poor sales numbers of Call of Duty: Vanguard and the lower engagement seen in Warzone.
