Horizon Forbidden West has reportedly been delayed until 2022. However, Sony has not made any official announcements regarding this report, and no specific reason has yet to be given.

Bloomberg reports the supposed delay would push the game to the first quarter of 2022, past big holiday rush. This is now the second report in a short span about a delay, the first being from reporter Jeff Grubb on the Giant Bomb show GrubbSnax.

Forbidden West seems destined to slip past its 2021 release date, especially after PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst floated the possibility of a delay. He said at the time that we think we are on track to release this holiday season” but noted “that isn’t quite certain yet.”

If this is confirmed to be true, this would be just another game in an ever-growing list of delays of this year. Most developers and publishers are citing complications caused by the pandemic, particularly to studio efficiency as they adjusted to working from home.

Horizon Forbidden West is still expected to arrive to PS4 and PS5, with Guerrilla Games saying cross-gen won’t be “limiting in anyway” to the game.
