Arrowhead Studios announced the sequel for its top-down shooter, Helldivers, via the PlayStation Showcase today. It’s titled Helldivers II, and the sequel has one massive difference form the original game.
Helldivers II is not top-down, it’s in third-person, completely changing the experience of the game. However, the game still has similarites to the original, including the overall setting and goal.
It takes place on Super Earth, same as the first game, with Helldivers II taking players into futuristic battles against the enemies of Super Earth–giant bugs. The game will have online multiplayer, which is going to require a PS Plus subscription and internet connection.
The graphics are detailed and look great, a real glow-up in comparison to the top-down version from the first Helldivers. Little else is known about the title, expect that Helldivers II is scheduled to release for PS5 and PC sometime in 2023.
