Today on PlayStation’s blog, Dominic Matthews from Ninja Theory, announced today that Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has reached its alpha stage.
This means that for the first time the game is playable from beginning to end. This does not mean it is close to completion, they still have a lot of work do, according to Matthews. He also stated:
“Some parts of the game are starting to look and feel just as we envisioned, whereas others are still only built to a basic level. The important thing at this stage is that all of the areas are laid out and the design clearly defined.”
The team is making tons of progress though. They have shot all their performance capture screens, which are now in the process of being put into the game. Voices overs have been recorded that follows throughout Senua’s story.
All gameplay mechanics are in and being refined. The combat system is already in place and set for thorough playtesting. There is also puzzle experiences — which are based on learning psychosis — are now ready for final polish art. Most of the games music is complete and mixed into the Hellblade’s soundscape.
The next stage for the team is Beta, but it seems they are getting there fast. Ironing out the bugs and completing the final product is just on the horizon, as the game is supposed to be launching later this year for PS4 and PC.
