Grand Theft Auto V is com­ing up on its eighth year and con­tin­ues to be a rather pop­u­lar game, prompt­ing Rock­star to bring the game to the PlaySta­tion 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game will mak­ing the leap to a third gen­er­a­tion of con­soles on Novem­ber 11th of this year. Rock­star also announced that the stand­alone edi­tion of GTA Online for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will launch the same day. 

PlaySta­tion users will be get­ting a spe­cial bonus with the stand­alone, includ­ing the game being free for the first three months, end­ing on Feb­ru­ary 2022. PlaySta­tion Plus users on PS4 have been claim­ing GTA $1,000,000 every month in GTA Online until it comes to the PS5.

Pre­vi­ous­ly, Rock­star spoke about the dif­fer­ence the new edi­tions of GTA V will deliv­er because of the pow­er of these next-gen consoles.

The new gen­er­a­tion ver­sions of GTAV will fea­ture a range of tech­ni­cal improve­ments, visu­al upgrades and per­for­mance enhance­ments to take full advan­tage of the lat­est hard­ware, mak­ing the game more beau­ti­ful and more respon­sive than ever,” Rock­star said.

Rock­star also teased that sum­mer updates will be com­ing to GTA Online that will have “spe­cial ben­e­fits” for play­ers “to take advan­tage of in these expand­ed and enhanced ver­sions when they drop.”

On top of this, Rock­star is also cel­e­brat­ing the 20th anniver­sary of GTA III with “fun sur­pris­es,” with some of them specif­i­cal­ly for GTA Online. Mean­while, GTA V has sold 140 mil­lion copies since the games orig­i­nal debut on Xbox 360/PS3 way back in 2013.
