Developer Sucker Punch announced new sales figure for Ghost of Tsushima, alongside some other interesting information about the game. In a PlayStation blog post, the game’s director Nate Fox revealed the PS4 exclusive has sold 6.5 million copies so far. It was also announced that a Ghost of Tsushima movie is currently in the works from John Wick’s Chad Stahelski.

Ghost of Tsushima’s success isn’t all that surprising, as the game was the fastest-selling new IP history on PS4 from one of Sony’s first-part studios. As of November 2020, the game sold 5 million copies.

That’s a large and impressive number, and it quickly made it one Sony’s best-selling exclusives for the past generation. In comparison, God of War and Horizon: Zero Dawn each sold more than 10 million copies, but this was later in their lifecycles.

What’s more notable in the new announcement is that Fox said roughly half the people that bought Ghost of Tsushima, or about 3.25 million people, finished it. “Can you believe that?” he said. A 50% completion rate is higher than average, as many games don’t reach a completion percentage this high.

Since Ghost of Tsushima was such a massive success (less we forget a movie deal), it seems likely Sucker Punch will make a sequel. However, this hasn’t been announced.
