Exoprimal–Mechs Against Dinosaurs– For The PS4 And PS5 In 2023

While this game isn’t Dino Cri­sis, Cap­com is still deliv­er­ing a dinosaur-packed action game–currently be devel­oped specif­i­cal­ly for PlaySta­tion users. Exo­pri­mal puts your char­ac­ters into a tech­no­log­i­cal­ly advanced mech­a­nized (or mech) bat­tle suit. This is so you can take on the, what appears to be, extra-dimen­sion­al dinosaurs that num­ber in thou­sands, pos­si­bly tens of thou­sands of them lit­er­al­ly falling from dimen­sion­al orbs sky-high, and above human cities. Cap­com announced the new game dur­ing Sony’s March State of Play livestream.

The trail­er can be seen below, which shows some aspects of online game­play. You’ll be play­ing the “exofight­er”, a pilot spe­cial­ized in using a mech­a­nized suit to take on this mas­sive dinosaur threat. The trail­er shows five dif­fer­ent exo­suits, each hav­ing a dif­fer­ent com­bat role. You can change exo­suits any time dur­ing a mis­sion, mak­ing it pos­si­ble to change tac­tics as you go or if the sit­u­a­tion abrupt­ly evolves. 

Accord­ing to the game’s web­site, expect to fight against these dinosaur men­aces as a coop­er­a­tive team, while also fac­ing against oth­er teams of human play­ers. “Dino Sur­vival, the main game mode, sees two teams of five play­ers com­pete in a vari­ety of PvE and PvP mis­sions. Play­ers will be trans­port­ed to the scene of the lat­est dinosaur out­break and fol­low Leviathan’s guid­ance to com­plete objec­tives, the web­site states. The team that com­pletes the mis­sion first will emerge vic­to­ri­ous. Whether play­ers are engag­ing the oth­er team direct­ly, or fight­ing along­side them against a com­mon ene­my, the aim is to accom­plish objec­tives as quick­ly as possible.”

The web­site also shows that Exo­suits fall into three com­bat roles: assault, tank, and sup­port. Four of the suits fea­tured in the trail­er are great­ly detailed on the site. The orange Dead­eye is east-to-use and all-pur­pose exo­suit that spe­cial­izes in medi­um to long dis­tances. Zephyr is a quick, melee-focused exo­suit that (obvi­ous­ly) focus­es on close quar­ters com­bat. Road­block is a heavy­weight exo­suit with “supreme dura­bil­i­ty.” The Witch­doc­tor is a sup­port suit that spe­cial­izes in “syn­er­giz­ing” with ally skills and attacks.

Exo­pri­mal is head­ed to PlaySta­tion 4 and PlaySta­tion 5 in 2023.
