Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion will launch on September 4th, Bungie announced today during a livestream.
Forsaken is a big expansion, like The Taken King and Rise of iron in Destiny OG. Forsaken takes players back to the reef. Forsaken is has a good old western revenge theme and kicks off with having to break Cayde‑6 out of prison. Bungie is staying tight lipped with any additional information about the story until E3.
The weapons system is seeing some changes. The kinetic weapon slot will be able to house shotguns, a new mod system is coming along side a new masterwork system that will let you level up your weapons overtime as you play. A new weapon is also coming: The Bow and Arrow.
A new feature called “Collections” is also being added to help you track all the items you can acquire in Forsaken. Collections will allow you to look at sets and see how to go get the items you are missing.
Forsaken adds 3 new super abilities. Fire Knifes that do what they sound like they do, a giant hammer that when slammed causes a fire tornado and the warlock will be able to teleport then explode.
For the first time in Destiny 2, a new raid is being added. This new raid is named “Dreaming City” and features more bosses than any previous raid in the Destiny series. Dreaming City also features a massive free roaming area (like The Taken Kings Dreadnaught) with puzzles and plenty of secrets to solve and discover. Like The Leviathan ( the raid Destiny 2 shipped with) Dreaming City will see more content added overtime.
