Call of Duty: Warzone is heading to the Pacific on December 8th along with Vanguard’s Season 1, and Activision has released a bunch of new information on Caldera map. This includes a video and a map layout showing Caldera’s points of interest.
Caldera will be a brand-new map for Warzone, the first since the game launched in March of 2020. Players can expect a complete change of scenery with the Pacific Island setting, with a volcano, waterfalls, and caves to explore. There are also industrial areas, like an airport, beach resort, and docks. The Caldera map is revealed to have 15 main points of interest.
Vanguard will be integrated on December 8th when Caldera launches in Warzone, so expect all of Vanguard’s weapons and operators in the battle royale. This includes the core 38 weapons from Vanguard and the two free weapons arriving with the Season 1 battle pass.
Warzone Pacific will also feature a new Vanguard Royale playlist in addition to standard battle royale. Vanguard Royale is Warzone’s new dogfighting mode that will allow players to experience aerial combat. Vanguard Royale will only feature loadouts and operators from Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Warzone’s smaller Rebirth Island map will remain as a secondary map to Caldera. Players can use all their Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War weapons for both Rebirth Island and standard modes on Caldera.
The Gulag will be part of Caldera, but any players who wins their Gulag will drop back in the match with the weapon loadout given to them during their 1v1 duel.
Other adjustments are coming with the introduction of Caldera, including a nerf to the Dead Silence field upgrade, a buff to lethal equipment, and gas mask changes. The gas mask animation caused many unwanted deaths, as the gas would force operators to automatically put it on or take it off. Activision states the mask will not interrupt as many operator actions as it once did, making it easier to use. Plating up or reloading a weapon while fleeing the gas got similar treatment as the gas mask.

Weapons and equipment like the Kali Stick melee weapons and the Heartbeat Sensor have been slightly nerfed. Stopping Power has been completely removed from the Warzone.
Players still won’t be able to swim in Warzone–as it doesn’t feature the swimming mechanic–so that’s kind of silly considering they made the new map an island. However, walking through the water does have its perks. Walking through it will make it harder for operators with Tracker to see your footsteps. Crouching in knee-high water will give the effect of Cold-Blooded perk, preventing detection from thermal scopes and enemy equipment.

Warzone’s Pacific will have new Contracts for players to complete, including the Supply Drop Contract. This contract airlifts a valuable crate onto the map for anyone to take, but only has its exact location revealed by the contracted squad. Big Game Bounty targets the operator with the highest kill count. A vague third Contract is listed as the Top Secret Contract.
Everyone who owns Call of Duty: Vanguard will get a 24-hour head start to play Caldera. All other Warzone players will have to wait until December 9th to get a look at the new Warzone Pacific update.
