Dr. Disrespect (or Guy Beahm) has formed a new game development studio being called the Midnight Society. Beahm previously put up job listings on his website back in August, but the studio did not have a name at the time. It will be “focused on delivering the best, most community-focused, online PVP multiplayer experience the world has ever seen,” according to Midnight Society’s new website.
The company has “put together a killer team of veteran AAA talent that lives, breathes, and sleeps in the realm of PVP multiplayer.” Robert Bowling will be the studio director for Midnight Society, and Quinn DelHoyo takes up as creative director. Bowling served as the creative strategist and community manager Call of Duty, as well as other positions within gaming studios. DelHoyo designed levels and weapons for Gears of War, and then moving to work on Halo.
Creating games is not such a surprising move for the once Twitch-famous streamer, as Dr. Disrespect does have prior history within the gaming industry. He served as Sledgehammer’s community manager before his career in streaming sky-rocketed
Midnight Society also stated it’s aiming to include audience feedback early on, and wants to “include communities and influencers much earlier in the development process.”
Beyond a general statement about the studio, information about the game they are working is pretty much null and void. Midnight Society also has plenty of positions available, so it’s likely they are still in the extremely early stages.
