Ubisoft tweeted today that “Resistance” update 1.8 will be a rather large one for all platforms and actually contain new area, as well as new game modes. This is a free update, so no one needs to worry about a purchase to see the new area or play the new modes.
It has been about a year and half since the launch of The Division and it desperately needed new area to be opened. Technically, it gave new social spaces and playable areas in their DLC, but it was only through purchase that you could see anything new.
The addition to the original map is a tad late, but will still probably be a welcome sight to the players. The section of the map that will open is the West Side Pier, which spreads across two zones. It also features Camp Clinton, a brand new social space.
The two new modes: Resistance PvE and Skirmish PvP modes, both which can be found in the new section of the map. In Resistance PvE, up to four Agents take con waves of enemies from all factions. Survive to a chance at a reward.
Skirmish PvP makes two teams of four players against each each other, shoot it out. Downing an opponent is not enough to get a point, you have to completely eliminate that player. Team that reaches the highest score first, wins.
Update 1.8 also brings with it a bunch of smaller changes, including improvements to the Underground DLC, Rogue mechanics, and gear system changes that will allow you to improve the stats on your items. For more information on this update, you can check out The Division’s Twitch channel tomorrow at 8 am, PDT.
