The next major expan­sion for Des­tiny 2, Beyond Light, is close to its Novem­ber launch date. How­ev­er, the enhanced ver­sion of the game for the next-gen con­soles won’t be released until the fol­low­ing month on Decem­ber 8th.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X will both be capa­ble of run­ning Des­tiny 2 at 4K res­o­lu­tion and 60 FPS, the Xbox Series S will still dis­play the game at 1080p. Microsoft­’s Series S will reach 60 FPS at that res­o­lu­tion, as well as any next-gen fea­tures that the Series X and PS5 receive.

While load­ing times will be reduced, this will depend on net­work­ing and match­mak­ing due to Des­tiny 2 being an online only title. One of the most impor­tant qual­i­ty-of-life improve­ments will be the load­ing time to inspect your Guardian load­out. Bungie has also con­firmed that cross-gen­er­a­tional play will be avail­able with­in the same con­sole fam­i­ly.

Des­tiny 2 will be playable through back­wards com­pat­i­bil­i­ty on the new con­soles, and Bungie has stat­ed that the faster load times and cross-gen play will be avail­able on Novem­ber 10th. The full list of visu­al improve­ments can be seen below:

Bungie is also adding Field of View cus­tomiza­tion on con­soles, aim­ing to enable a FOV range sim­i­lar to that of the PC. “We’re cur­rent­ly test­ing these set­tings to ensure smooth per­for­mance across each plat­form and will have addi­tion­al details clos­er to launch,” Bungie said.
